QMC DATA MINING PROGRAM for Windows

EQUIPMENT PERFORMANCE METER (EPM) PROGRAM

The Equipment Performance Meter uses fundamental equipment operating relationships to rate performance.  It provides status on how the equipment is performing, when maintenance is required, or when a complete shutdown is necessary to repair the item.  This program is applicable to valves, pumps, boilers, furnaces, heat exchangers, reactors, compressors, distillation columns, separation equipment, etc.  Instability in equipment results in quality and efficiency losses in the process that can lead to failure resulting in plant shutdown and subsequent safety and environmental concerns. The QMC Program includes Equipment Performance Meters for pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, boilers and distillation columns.

The Equipment Performance Meter is configured to monitor equipment graphically and to generate status summary reports.  Run charts of individual equipment performance is monitored.  Plots are based on original design and current operating data to determine operating efficiency.  Ratios are monitored and the decay rate indicates when maintenance or repair is needed or when failure could occur.   With time, efficiencies will drop at a rate that can be used to project when maintenance is required.  The benefits of this technology include predicting maintenance requirements of equipment, pinpointing operating anomalies that can be quickly resolved, evaluating the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and general plant troubleshooting.  If a major piece of plant equipment fails unexpectedly, it can cause the entire plant to shut down, incurring significant losses.  Also, unexpected equipment failure causes both safety and environmental concerns.
